In this one-man show, surrounded by his instruments, Stracho Temelkovski uses live music and imagery to tell the story of his childhood with his immigrant parents in the suburbs of Grenoble, his teenage years in the neighborhood, and the hard times he had to face (death, violence, despair…)—until he discovered music, which helped him grow and stay on his feet. The story begins in his teenage bedroom, where a Fela Kuti poster hangs above his bed with the words: “Music is the weapon of the future.” For this new work, which he has been developing for two years, he is joined by his longtime artistic companions: choreographer Sylvère Lamotte of Cie Lamento and videographers Simon Barral-Baron and Rémi Dumas. It is a playful, sensory invitation into the artist’s musical world, extending the dialogue with preteens and middle and high school students that he began through concerts in schools.
